PM Modi leaves for Austria after two-day visit to Russia | India News – Times of India
NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi his two-day visit to Russia and began his journey to Austria on Tuesday.
During his stay in Russia, Modi held talks with Russian leaders to strengthen ties between Russia and the US. bilateral cooperation in various sectors, including energy, trade, manufacturing and fertilizers.
The visit marked Modi’s first trip to Russia since the start of the Ukraine conflict.
Monday evening, President Vladimir Putin hosted a private dinner for Prime Minister Modi at his residence on the outskirts of Moscow. The two leaders also discussed the ongoing crisis in Ukraine during their talks.
PLM Modi stressed that a solution to the conflict cannot be achieved on the battlefield. He said that “peace talks cannot succeed amid bombs, guns and bullets.”
Earlier on Tuesday, President Putin expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for his efforts to find a peaceful solution to the crisis in Ukraine. “I am grateful to you for the attention you are paying to the most urgent issues, in particular trying to find ways to resolve the crisis in Ukraine primarily through peaceful means,” Putin said, as reported by the official TASS news agency.
In recognition of his contribution to advancing bilateral relations between India and Russia, Prime Minister Modi was officially awarded the ‘Order of Saint Andrew the Apostle‘ by President Putin. The award, which was announced in 2019, was presented to Modi during his visit.
As Modi arrives ViennaIt is the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Austria in over forty years, the last being that of Indira Gandhi in 1983.
