PM Modi mourns Ratan Tata, calls him 'visionary business leader, compassionate soul'
NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday mourned Ratan Tata, the doyen of Indian industry, who died at a hospital in Mumbai at the age of 86.
Prime Minister Modi called Ratan Tata a visionary business leader, a compassionate soul and an extraordinary human being.
“One of the most unique aspects of Shri Ratan Tata Ji was his passion to dream big and give back. He has been at the forefront of championing causes such as education, healthcare, sanitation and animal welfare, to name a few,” the Prime Minister wrote on X.
Prime Minister Modi said Tata provided stable leadership to one of India’s oldest and most prestigious business houses, Tata Group, while at the same time its contribution went far beyond the boardroom.

He endeared himself to several people through his humility, kindness and unwavering commitment to make our society better, the Prime Minister added.
The Prime Minister recalled his old dealings with Ratan Tata and noted that he used to meet him regularly in Gujarat when he was the Chief Minister.
“We exchanged views on various issues. I found his perspectives very enriching. These interactions continued when I came to Delhi. Extremely pained by his demise. My thoughts are with his family, friends and admirers at this sad hour,” said the prime minister. Minister said.
