Poco F4 GT scheduled to launch on April 26, Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC expected

Poco F4 GT is all set to hit the global markets on April 26. The new Poco phone will be launched through a virtual launch event that will be held on the company’s official social media handles. It is widely speculated that the Redmi K50 Gaming Edition will be getting a new moniker as Poco F4 GT. The Redmi K50 Gaming Edition will feature a 120Hz refresh rate display, a triple camera setup on the rear and a 4,700mAh battery with 120W fast wired charging support. Separately, a Xiaomi smartphone with model number Xiaomi 21121210G has appeared on the Geekbench benchmarking site. The listing is speculated to belong to the Poco F4 GT. The smartphone is shown packing Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC and 11GB of RAM. Poco F4 GT will be the successor to the Poco F3 GT.

The Poco F4 GT will be launched globally on April 26 at 8:00 PM GMT+8 (5:30 PM IST) through a virtual event that will be streamed live on the company’s YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook channels. The brand is also said to have started sending out media invites for the launch event. However, the pricing details and specifications of the upcoming phone are not known at this time.

Separately, a Xiaomi smartphone has appeared spotted on the Geekbench website with model number 21121210G. The listing reportedly pertains to the Poco F4 GT. The smartphone has scored 1,235 points in single-core testing and 3,555 points in multi-core testing. The listing suggests 11GB of RAM on board the upcoming device. Also, as per the Geekbench listing, the phone will be running on Android 12 out of the box. As per the listing, an octa-core chipset codenamed ‘taro’ will be powering the phone. It reveals a primary CPU core clocked at 3.0GHz, triple cores maxed out at 2.50GHz and quad cores maxed out at 1.79GHz. All of these hint at the presence of a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset on the upcoming Poco F4 GT.

To recall, Redmi K50 Gaming Edition has been launched in China. The Redmi K50 Gaming Edition price starts at CNY 3,299 (roughly Rs. 39,000) for the base model with 8GB + 128GB storage.

The Poco F4 GT and Redmi K50 Gaming Edition will get identical specs if the former is indeed a rebranded device.

The dual-SIM Redmi K50 Gaming Edition runs on Android 12-based MIUI 13 and features a 6.67-inch full HD+ (1,080×2,400 pixels) AMOLED panel with 120Hz refresh rate and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC with IO Turbo, paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM. The Redmi K50 Gaming Edition smartphone features a triple camera setup on the back, headlined by a 64-megapixel Sony IMX686 primary sensor, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide angle camera, and a 2-megapixel macro shooter. For selfies, there’s a 20-megapixel Sony IMX596 sensor. The Redmi K50 Gaming Edition features up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage and packs a 4,700mAh battery with support for 120W fast wired charging.
