Poco F5 5G appears on Geekbench, RAM, storage variants hinted: report

Poco’s F5 5G is yet to get an official launch date in India. The phone has appeared in multiple leaks over the past few weeks. Recent leaks have also shown the device on various certification websites, suggesting that a launch is imminent. Now, the phone has appeared on benchmarking website Geekbench, which along with the scores also reveals some key specifications. Also revealed are some cryptic hints from the brand itself, detailing the model and finishes, along with the RAM and storage variants of the phone.

First noticed by PriceBabaThe Geekbench listing reveals a single-core score of 1,118 points and a multi-core score of 4,236 points with version 6. The phone, which has a model number of ‘23049PCD8I’, appears to be powering the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 SoC, which was announced only last month and is said to be the Indian variant of the Poco F5 5G, according to the source. The SoC has been inferred based on the CPU and GPU details revealed in the Geekbench listing.

If this turns out to be real, the Poco F5 5G could debut this new mobile platform in India, making it exclusive to the brand for a few months. The device we tested also featured 8GB of RAM onboard and ran Android 13.

While Poco India is yet to reveal an official launch date or timeline, the brand has already started revealing some details. A recent tweet Poco Country Head, Himanshu Tandon had revealed an image featuring an airplane with the letters “F a 5 t” in the caption, which suggests that we are indeed looking forward to the launch of the Poco F5. The same post also featured random colored blocks that resemble the registration marks in print media, which could vaguely hint at the color options of this device. Another poll conducted by the same source on the social media platform also led to the reveal of the variants of an upcoming device. Tandon had revealed in a separate tweet said that an upcoming device will “only launch in the 8+256 and 12+256 variants.” Keep in mind that Poco has yet to reveal what the “upcoming product” is.

All eyes are on the Poco F5 5G, which will be succeeding the Poco F4 5G in India. A previous report had suggested that the smartphone is a rebranded version of the Redmi Note 12 Turbo. If so, it could feature a 6.67-inch QHD+ AMOLED panel with a maximum screen refresh rate of 120Hz. The device is also expected to come with HDR10+ support.

The Redmi Note 12 Turbo was launched in China in March. The device was priced at CNY 1,999 (approximately Rs. 23,900) for the base variant with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage and came in Xinghai Blue, Carbon Black, Ice Feather White (translated) colour options and also comes in a special Harry Potter Edition. The device features a 64-megapixel primary camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 2-megapixel macro camera on the back, along with a 16-megapixel selfie camera on the front. It draws power from a 5,000mAh battery that can be charged using a 67W adapter.
