Poco’s Alleged Smartwatch Spotted on Multiple Certification Websites
Poco is reportedly working on a new smartwatch. The launch of the wearable from Xiaomi’s sub-brand seems to be imminent as it has been spotted on multiple certification websites. The Poco smartwatch has reportedly received approvals from SGS in Belgium, SIRIM in Malaysia, SDPPI in Indonesia and EEC in Russia. The certification websites list the Poco smartwatch with the same internal model designation. Not much is known about the Poco wearable so far apart from its charging support. The company is yet to make any official announcements.
The various certification websites for the upcoming Poco smartwatch were spotted Through tipster Piyush Bhasarkar (@IndianTech_1). The EEC listing for the smartwatch reveals that it may have been manufactured by May 70Xiaomi’s peripheral division that produces dash cams and power stations. The only thing all the listings have in common is that they mention M2131W1 as the internal model designation for Poco’s upcoming wearable.
The listing on SGS Belgium’s certification website states that the upcoming POCO smartwatch will be getting 1.5W charging support. It also suggests that it might be launching in the European market as well. Similarly, the SIRIM and SDPPI certifications from Malaysia and Indonesia respectively suggest that the wearable will be available in the Asian market as well. Apart from this, not much is known about the upcoming Poco smartwatch.
Speaking to Android Authority in October, a Poco executive said confirmed that the company is working on Internet of Things (IoT) products. This suggests that Poco could be developing products in categories other than wearables. In 2020, Poco had announced that it would be launching its true wireless stereo (TWS) earphones, but the exact timing was not specified. Another report from June last year had stated that Poco could rebrand Redmi AirDots 3 Pro as its first TWS offering — Poco Pop Buds. However, the earphones are yet to be launched. It remains to be seen what IoT products Poco has in store for its customers.
