He is described as white, about six feet tall and at the time of his release was wearing a black jacket over a blue top, blue jeans and Timberland shoes.

He was also wearing a black Casio watch, blue glasses and a vape pen.

Phipps has used a number of surnames before, including Cawthray, Goldthorpe, and Perry.

Phipps was convicted of kidnapping in 2002 and rape in 1989 and 1993.

Officers previously released CCTV footage showing him approaching young women on the street.

Police have set up a special page on their website to report information about any sightings of Sean Phipps, but are urging anyone who sees him to call 999 immediately. The page also has an option to upload videos of him.

Earlier this month Detective Inspector Dan Rowan said: ‘Sean Phipps traveled to Bristol city center on Wednesday but did not return to HMP Leyhill as required.

“Right now we’re keeping an open mind about where he is, but we think he could have traveled outside of the force area.

He is known to have links with the areas of Leicester and Leeds. We ask anyone who sees Phipps to call 999 and provide reference number 5222130002.”
