Police: Mihir had 4 cans of strong beer in BMW hours before collision | India News – Times of India


MUMBAI: Worli Policethe investigation of the BMW collision with drive away case, said the main suspect, Mihir Shah (24), had bought four 500 ml cans strong beer from a bar in Malad while driving from Borivli to Marine Drive on Sunday morning. Police alleged that Mihir was drinking beer in the car, hours before his BMW rammed a scooter in Worli, killing him Kaveri Nakhwa (45), and injured her husband, Pradip (50).
Police arrested Mihir’s father on Sunday Rajesh Shaha former Shiv Sena functionary, and the family’s driver, Rishiraj Bidawat (30), who was in the car at the time of the accident. Mihir was arrested from a hotel in Virar on Tuesday.
On Wednesday night, police took Mihir and Bidawat to the crime scene to ascertain the exact details of the incident and filmed the proceedings. Police said that Mihir had also changed his appearance by shaving his beard and cutting his hair at a salon before he went into hiding and that they will also take him there for investigation.
Blood samples of Mihir and Bidawat have been sent to the forensic lab for analysis. Both have confessed to their crimes, the police claimed. Mihir told the police that he fled after the accident because he was scared.
On Thursday, Bidawat was sent to judicial custody by a metropolitan magistrate court in Sewri. He told the police that he has been working with the Shahs for the past 10-12 years and that he often used to drive Mihir around.
