The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader announced the meeting on social media platform X.
“Today in New Delhi I met respected Congress President Shri @kharge ji and senior Congress leader Shri @RahulGandhi ji and discussed various issues related to the state,” Soren wrote on X.
Congress secretary KC Venugopal was also present during the meeting.
Congress and JMM want one seat sharing arrangement According to reports, this is part of their strategy to retain power in Jharkhand against a strong campaign by the BJP.
Following Congress’s recent defeat in the Haryana Assembly polls, tensions have arisen within the INDIA bloc, with allies criticizing Congress for being independent and not working together effectively. The Shiv Sena (UBT) and other parties such as the TMC, AAP, CPM and CPI attributed Haryana’s loss to this lack of cooperation.
On Wednesday, CM Hemant Soren also announced his opposition to the law Waqf Amendment Act 2024 at a meeting with the All India Muslim Personal Law Board. He said, “We will never support the Waqf Amendment Bill 2024 in Parliament if it is introduced.”
The 2024 Jharkhand Legislative Assembly election, for the election of 81 members, is expected to take place by the end of this year.
