The British sandwich giant will test the store format in cities that offer fewer ‘grab-and-go’ options because it keeps customers in the store longer.

Croque Monsieur and a Caprese Melt are among the made to order food products, and the company’s managing director believes that more than 100 Dine-in stores can open in the future.

In contrast to current points of sale, there is only one ‘ready-made’ cooled plank as employees prepare fresh bowls during the day.

Two stores will be tested in the near future – in Broughty Ferry near Dundee and Maidenhead in Berkshire.

The stores will be complete with their own playroom for children.

Clare Clough, the director of PRET for UK and Europe, said that work patterns have changed since the pandemic ‘and that is probably here to stay’.

She added: “The hybrid work model gives us more confidence in more cities.”

Both test stores contain a large ‘community table’, which according to fun says it can be used by local groups such as mothers or knitting clubs.

Mrs Clough said: “The chance of the white space for the brand is high and that is why we know that we have to adjust the model so lightly.”

She explained that the typical grab-and-go element to do fun was less important for customers in smaller cities than busy city destinations.

More than 80 percent of the chain’s store openings since January 2023 are outside of London.

Mrs. Clough has said that the new store format ‘will become a significant part of the estate in the future’ – estimate that there could be more than 100.

She added that the list of target areas was ‘long’ and ‘there are many regional cities in the United Kingdom where we are not, but we would like to be inside’.

Fun at the moment Has 500 stores in the UK and Ireland in addition to 66 in the US, 100 in Europe and another 66 in Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
