Popular meal subscription Fresh N Lean suddenly closes with cryptic message
Fresh and leanthe popular California-based meal delivery service appears to have suddenly closed.
The healthy meal subscription service, which is currently CNET’s pick for best prepared meal delivery for 2024posted a message on its website on Thursday saying, “After 14 years of service, Fresh N Lean was suddenly forced to close its doors by ‘lenders.'” No further information was provided, but a link to order Fresh N Lean meals or start a new subscription returned a 404 error message.

Founded in 2010 by then 18-year-old Lauren Asseo (Founder & CEO), Fresh N Lean was one of the first in a new line of healthy, ready-to-eat delivery options to capture the attention of busy people looking to eat healthier. The service sent out ready-to-eat healthy meals to cater to a variety of eating plans, including keto, vegan, Mediterranean, and high-protein diets. It was known for its use of whole foods, quality meats and fish, and organic produce.
It is unclear whether active orders will be filled or whether the company plans to resume business. Company representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
