President Droupadi Murmu embarks on a historic three-nation visit to Africa
President Murmu will visit three African countries; Algeria, Mauritania And Malawi from October 13 to 19, the Foreign Ministry said on October 9.

Notably, this will be the first ever visit of the President of India to the three African nations: Algeria, Mauritania and Malawi.
The President will also hold bilateral meetings with leaders and interact with the Indian diaspora.

President Murmu will land in Algeria on October 13, where she will meet with Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune within a month of his second term as president.
During her visit, President Murmu will attend a reception by the Indian community on October 13. On October 14, she will pay her respects at the Maqam Echahid monument, which was erected in honor of those who died during the Algerian War of Independence.
After this, she will have a meeting with President Tebboune, followed by delegation-level talks and a banquet in her honor. She will also address the Algeria-India Economic Forum that day.
The President will address the India-Algeria Economic Forum and the Sidi Abdellah Science and Technology Pole University. She will also inaugurate the India Corner at Hamma Garden in Jardin d’essai. She will also inaugurate an India center at Hamma Botanical Garden by planting a sapling from India.
In the second leg of her visit, President Murmu will arrive in Mauritania on October 16. This is also the first time that someone from India has visited the African nation at such a high level since its independence in 1960.
After her arrival, she will have a tête-a-tête with Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, after which they will sign four Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) regarding culture, foreign office institutions, foreign office consultations and visas. waiver agreements for holders of diplomatic and official passports. She will also address the Indian community there.
President Murmu will land in Malawi on October 17, at the invitation of the President of Malawi. She will also have a tête-a-tête with him. Following this, President Murmu will address a business event and also meet with the Indian diaspora.
Three MoUs on youth affairs, sports and cultural exchange will also be signed between the two countries.
President Murmu will leave Malawi for India on October 19.
