Primark fans love cult autumn coat, but Gen Z warns it’s not cool
As sad as it is, summer is almost over.
That means it’s almost time to dig out our favorite lightweight fall jackets.
Every year at this time of year, the denim jacket emerges from wardrobes across the world, ready to reclaim its place as an essential fall layer.
But by 2024, Millennials fear things will be different, and it’s all because of Generation Z.
Rumor has it that Gen Z has branded the trusty denim jacket as ‘uncool’.
The news comes after Primark launched its brand new £17 Denim Jacket, which some shoppers are loving.

The fast fashion label’s social media team showed off the item on Instagram, writing that the “category is double denim.”
This happened alongside a video in which fashion influencer Paulina Popielewska posed in the new outerwear classic.
“This denim jacket is designed to enhance your casual look with its sleek and modern design,” say Primark bosses.
“The cotton-rich construction and refined cut make this the ideal choice for anyone looking for a fashionable twist on the traditional denim jacket.
“It features classic lapels, long sleeves, four pockets and metal buttons, adding a touch of modernity and functionality to your wardrobe.
“It pairs effortlessly with leggings and a T-shirt for a casual look, or with a matching denim mini skirt for a polished look.
“Let this jacket become your go-to outerwear for occasions when you want to show off your sophisticated side.”
And while some buyers raved about the design, describing the lightweight jacket as “beautiful,” others issued a stark warning.
Rhianna Rowe, 38, said: “I love my denim jackets but at a recent concert full of Gen Zers I was told that ‘only millennials wear denim jackets these days’ and that they’re not cool.”
Although denim jackets have been a fashion staple for decades, Generation Z seems to be moving away from this classic garment.
The best-selling Primark nostalgia items
If you are looking for nostalgia, Primark is the place to go.
But it’s not like denim jackets have completely disappeared from Generation Z’s wardrobes.
Rather, their popularity has waned compared to other fashion trends that appeal more to this generation, such as aviator jackets and biker jackets.
Social media also plays a major role in Generation Z’s fashion choices.
Platforms like TikTok and Instagram are flooded with new trends and style inspiration every second.
