NEW DELHI: Newly elected MP from Waynad, Priyanka Gandhi, made her maiden speech in Parliament during the debate on the Constitution on Friday. From Priyanka Gandhi Virgin’s speech in the House largely turned around Constitutionreservations and a push for a national caste census.
In the debate marking the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution, the first lawmaker began by appealing to the father of the Constitution, Babasaheb Ambedkar, to highlight his contribution.
The Congress leader also tried to corner the BJP-led NDA government by attacking the Constitution issue, saying that the Constitution is a ‘suraksha kavach but the ‘ruling party has made all efforts to shield that break through’. She further pointed out that the reduced number of BJP members in the Lok Sabha elections is forcing the BJP to talk about the Constitution more often. “The truth is that the BJP is now talking about the Constitution because they have learned from LS polls that people are protecting it,” she said.
Priyanka Gandhi also won Adani issue to take out the government and say that the ruling government was not ready to discuss the US accusation on the Adani issue in the House of Representatives.
