Pro Shares Dog Who’s ‘Allergic to Everything’ and Four Breeds He’d ‘Never Own’
A professional dog trainer has listed the five most popular breeds he would never consider getting. So, how does your dog fare?
Bringing a four-legged friend into your family is a big decision, especially if you have children.
But if you are absolutely certain that you can provide a dog with the ideal environment and lifestyle, then you might want to listen up.
That’s because an expert in the field, known only as Luke, took to TikTok to share his story about some beloved breeds he would never own himself due to his work experience.
French Bulldog
The first breed to make the shortlist was the adorable French Bulldog, also known as ‘Frenchies’.
The expert shared his verdict on the adorable pooch, saying, “I know so many French bulldogs with a very nice temperament and a very nice character.
“But personally I would have a hard time with the many health problems that could arise.”
While there are plenty of French Bulldogs that are perfectly healthy and fit, the expert warned that “these guys are literally allergic to planet Earth.”
Belgian Malinois
Another breed that in the video was the ‘intelligent’ Belgian Malinois – but the dog expert indicated that they require a lot of work.
As a dog owner, the UK-based guru said that ‘if you don’t like agility training or bite work, this breed is the right choice’ not for you’.
This was previously confirmed by another pet industry professional who warned that ‘they are easy to train, but if you don’t know how to turn that into something constructive, they can almost take over’.
The expert explained that the Belgian Malinois is a working dog and instinctively wants to chase and bite things.
“So if you have a puppy and he starts biting, it’s a lot worse with this breed.”
Labradors
While the breed is “great for first-time owners” and “great with kids,” a Labrador’s appetite seems to be endless, he claimed.
“They’re just so food-driven. I would be so worried,” the canine virtuoso said, adding that beagles are “a little more intelligent” when it comes to chewing on treats.
“Labradors only think with their stomachs. That would only stress me out.”
Dog Owner’s Guide: Everything You Need to Know
Keeping a dog happy and healthy is not only a long-term financial investment, but a lifelong commitment.
Nine facts you should know in advance:
Siberian Husky
The Siberian Husky (or actually any Husky), so graceful and with its beautiful coat, seems like a good addition to your family.
But unless you’re willing to put in the time and effort to train these dogs, this breed isn’t the right choice for you, Luke explains.
Pugs
Although the guru wanted to close the list with the popular dachshund, he quickly changed his mind and added pugs.
”Again, same reason as with the French bulldogs – I just can’t stand the noise.”
Plus, Luke warned, this adorable pooch can become “lazy” in no time and doesn’t have much of a personality.
