Whether you want to maximize the efficiency of your heating system, eliminate drafts or explore alternative heating solutions, a few thoughtful adjustments can make all the difference.
And a property expert has shared 10 tips to keep your home warm this winter, including a £6 purchase to make your radiators more effective.
The guy known as @thatpropertyguy on TikTok, he shared a video on his social media page explaining his super clever tricks.
He says: “It’s getting a little chilly, so here are 10 tips to keep your house warm in 30 seconds.
“Blee your radiators to keep them running efficiently.”
By doing this you will ensure that your radiators are working properly so that your home can heat up quickly.
You do this by first turning off the heating and the radiators feel cool.
Then you need a radiator key (or a flat-blade screwdriver for some models) to open the bleed valve.
Place a cloth or small container under the valve to catch any drips. Insert the key into the valve and turn it counterclockwise. You should hear a hissing sound as the air escapes.
Once the water starts to drip out steadily, close the valve by turning the key clockwise.
After bleeding, check the pressure gauge of your boiler. You may need to increase the pressure to the recommended level.
The real estate expert continues: “Speaking of radiators, use reflector foil to reflect the heat back into the room.”
These can be purchased from Amazon and cost £6.29.
A rug will keep your feet warm if you have a hardwood or tile floor

He continues: “Use thermostatic valves if you haven’t already done so.
“Program your thermostat so that you don’t waste heat all day long. Close blinds and curtains to keep the heat in.
“Move furniture away from radiators to prevent them from absorbing heat. When you’re ready, install some insulation.
“Prevent cold air from entering by installing draft excluders around windows and doors.
“A rug will keep your feet warm if you have a hardwood or tile floor.
“And turn off the oven when you’re done cooking, but leave the door open. And as a bonus, don’t forget to double your socks.”

How to dry wet laundry indoors, in winter
Drying rack or drying rack
Fill your drying rack with wet laundry and place it near a heat source (such as a radiator or direct sunlight) to distribute the air around your clothes.
Dehumidifier
Connect a dehumidifier in a room where clothes are hanging so that they dry quickly and prevent moisture and mold. Many now have a laundry setting.
Tumble dryer
A tumble dryer can heat moisture from wet laundry, which saves time and can be used in all weather conditions.
Heated airer
Many brands and stores now sell heated airers for as little as £30. The racks are heated by electricity and can speed up drying time.
Open a window
Choose a spare room or unused room to keep your laundry and open a window but close the door behind you.
Use curtain poles
Hang wet laundry on radiators and then hook them on curtain rods with the radiators underneath. The heat will rise and dry the items. Alternatively, if you have a shower curtain rod, you can hang your clothes in the bathroom with a window open.
