PS5 Pro announced and officially revealed by Sony
Sony has officially revealed the PS5 Pro console, confirming its existence and revealing a number of new features about the mid-gen refresh, including specs, design, and capabilities.
The console has been rumored for a long time. After the constant stream of rumors and leaks over the past few months, it’s almost a relief that there’s finally something official from the gaming giant itself.
The PS5 Pro looks to be significantly more powerful than the base model, and presenter Mark Cerny was extremely confident that the model can drive the PS5 generation journey forward.
During the presentation we got a good look at the design of the PS5 Pro. Below you can find some pictures.
Sony also confirmed the PS5 Pro release date and price, as well as the PS5 Pro specs.
In short, the console is set to release on November 7 this year for $699.99 / £699.99 (around AU$1,052.99), with pre-orders starting on September 26.
The main specs are that the GPU has now been significantly upgraded with “67% more Compute Units” and 28% faster memory. That makes for around 45% faster rendering on average. The SSD has also had an upgrade and there will now be 2TB of internal storage. For more information on the console’s specs, head over to our dedicated page linked above.
There will be plenty more information about the new console coming in the run-up to its launch, and we’re excited to see what this console could mean for the best PS5 games of the future.
