PS5 Pro release date confirmed, pre-orders start September 26
Sony has confirmed the release date for the PS5 Pro and we don’t have much longer to wait for Sony’s most powerful gaming console.
The PlayStation 5 Pro release date is Thursday, November 7, 2024 in the US, UK, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea, according to the official PlayStation Blog Post.
Pre-orders for the mid-generation console begin on September 26.
Sony also confirmed the price of the PS5 Pro. The new system will cost $699.99 / £699.99, which converts to around AU$1052.99.
In addition to confirming the release date, Sony also gave us a first look at the new console. Below you can see some pictures of it.
It has a blockier design compared to the base PS5 console, and appears to be around the same size too – though we’ll confirm this when we get more information. It looks like the PS5 Pro will continue the white aesthetic of this generation of Sony machines, and could also feature swappable panels like the base PS5 and PS5 Slim.
These first looks also confirm a few features. In the images, we can clearly see X USB-C ports on the front, as well as X USB-C and USB-A ports on the back. There’s also the usual power port, HDMI port, and Ethernet port.
While some will still debate the necessity of such a mid-gen upgrade, there’s no doubt that a new console is always one of the most exciting moments in gaming. And we’re ready for it.
