PSV Eindhoven ‘has NO intention’ to sell star man Cody Gakpo on deadline day in battle to Southampton and Leeds… with bosses ‘liked to tie winger to lucrative new contract’
Leeds and Southampton’s hopes of a late attack on Cody Gakpo have reportedly all come to an end when PSV Eindhoven decided to keep their star man.
After Manchester United cooled their interest in the Dutch winger following the £85.5 million acquisition of Antony from Ajax, Leeds and Southampton emerged as two alternative candidates.
But the athletic reporting that PSV have now decided to keep Gakpo this summer and are determined to get him to sign a lucrative new contract with the club.

The PSV winger stood out at a number of clubs, including Southampton and Leeds
Dutch journalist Rik Elfrink added that Gakpo expected to board a flight to Leeds-Bradford airport on Thursday morning with six family members and Leeds director Victor Orta.
Orta had been spotted in the Netherlands trying to make a deal, but things appear to have stalled and Elfrink details a ‘special twist’ saw all flight details removed with the move reportedly off.
Gakpo’s stash soared last season as he racked up an incredible 12 assists. He has already scored three goals in four games this season.

Despite being only 23, the Dutch international has already scored 43 goals in 146 games for PSV and won the Eredivisie.
Over the weekend, Gakpo seemed to keep his options open when it came to his future.
“It’s like a puzzle, so over the next few days I’ll see which puzzle fits best,” he said.
‘It would certainly not be bad for me to stay at PSV. We will see.’
Gakpo has had an excellent start to the season and already has seven goals and six assists from nine games.
