  • Another passenger was also injured

A woman and child have been rushed to hospital after being injured during turbulence on a flight from Sydney to Brisbane.

The woman, in her 40s, and the child, who is under 10, were taken to Brisbane’s Prince Charles Hospital on Wednesday for treatment of bruises and cuts suffered on flight QF528, a Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said.

Another person injured during the flight refused treatment by paramedics.

The injured trio was reportedly not wearing a seat belt at the time, even though the seat belt sign was on.

The plane landed safely.

“Our pilots and cabin crew are highly trained to manage a range of onboard events, including turbulence, but we know this would have been very distressing, and we thank customers for their cooperation,” a Qantas spokeswoman said in a statement .
