Queen Mary of Denmark kicks off her trip to Brazil as she enjoys stunning views of the Amazon in Manaus

Queen Mary of Denmark started her trip to Brazil with a visit to Manaus, known as one of the most dangerous cities in the world.

The royal, 52, was effortlessly elegant as she visited the Amazon Museum MUSA in the Adolpho Ducke Forest Reserve – and later visited the Teatro Amazonas.

She is in the country for a four-day official visit, where she and Minister of Climate, Energy and Utilities Lars Aagaard are focusing on ‘Danish-Brazilian cooperation in the areas of biodiversity, health and the fight against violence against women’.

It is because she attended the state opening of parliament last week with her husband King Frederik and his aunt Princess Benedkeek.

The Danish queen, who shares four children with King Frederik, looked typically stylish in a coat dress and matching hat with brooch.

Mary, 52, and Frederik, 56, sat separately, according to royal protocol, after greeting Benedkeek, 80, outside the seat of the Danish parliament, Christiansborg in Copenhagen

Queen Mary’s coat dress had a belt at the waist and fell just below the knee.

The Australian-born royal wore her long brown hair in a dry bow under her hat and carried a bouquet of pink flowers.

The three Danish monarchs sat separately in the upper gallery, although Mary and Frederik were seen leaning over the empty chair between them to talk.

King Frederik wore a three-piece navy blue suit, complete with a light blue shirt and a bronze tie.

His aunt, Princess Benedkeek, looked equally chic in a cream tweed skirt suit, which she teamed with a sky blue hat and matching scarf.

She wore a pair of diamond earrings and a quilted Chanel handbag.

Margarethe, 84, a distant cousin of the late Queen Elizabeth II, announced her abdication on New Year’s Eve after ruling for 52 years. This made her the second longest-reigning Danish monarch.

She was recently hospitalized after a fall and is doing ‘very well’, although she was not present today.

Gathering for the opening of the Danish parliament, which takes place on the first Tuesday in October, the royals were joined by Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, who arrived with her husband Bo Tengberg, 59.

Mette Frederiksen, the youngest prime minister in Danish history, was dressed in a dark pink trouser suit, while her husband looked dapper in a dark suit and tie.

With her combed back hair, natural make-up and a broad smile, Prime Minister Frederiksen cut a stylish but accessible figure.

Last week, Mary provided an informal update on her mother-in-law’s health.
