Trooping the colour flypast: RAF reveal the 30 different aircraft flying over Buckingham Palace today in amazing air display headlined by the Red Arrows

The RAF will dazzle royal fans as they plan a 30-plane flypast in honor of the king’s birthday.

The stunning spectacle includes the RAF’s Red Arrows and an array of planes and helicopters as troops gather on the ground. Entering the color – a tradition with 1,400 soldiers, 400 musicians and more than 200 horses.

Members of the Royal family are expected to view the screen from the Buckingham Palace balcony – including the Princess of Waleswho will make her first appearance of the year after announcing she was being treated for an undisclosed form of cancer since the end of February.

In recent years, it has been a moment for the royal children to shine – with little Prince Louis last year, fans were delighted when he pretended to pilot one of the planes, appearing to screw up his face as he mimicked the deafening sound of the engine.

But in a tragic twist, the flypast will not feature the iconic Battle of Britain memorial flight, beloved by The Queen after a fatal Spitfire crash last month.

There will be several air restrictions in place before the flyover route begins, namely in the areas of East Anglia, Essex and London.

This morning, royal fans packed The Mall as they wait for the King’s birthday celebrations to begin.

The 42-year-old princess said in a statement: “I’m looking forward to attending the King’s Birthday Parade with my family this weekend and hope to take part in a few public performances this summer, but I also know that I’m not out of the picture just yet.” forest am. .

‘I’m learning to be patient, especially when it comes to uncertainty.

“Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body and allowing myself to take some much-needed time to heal.”

A Buckingham Palace spokesperson said: “His Majesty is delighted that The Princess will be able to attend tomorrow’s events and is very much looking forward to all elements of the day.”

Kate’s public appearance at Trooping will be her first official appearance of 2024, after she missed appointments early this year when she was admitted to hospital for abdominal surgery on January 16.

At the time her condition was not thought to be cancer, but tests after the successful surgery revealed the disease, and Kate revealed the medical development in an emotional video released in March.

No time frame has yet been set for Kate’s return to a full schedule of public appearances as she is given time to recover and recuperate before returning to full-time work.

Trooping will be a special event for the Princess as Number 9 Company, Irish Guards, a regiment she represents as colonel, will troop their King’s Color on Saturday, but Lieutenant General Sir James Bucknall will deliver the salute on her behalf.

The King, who is also undergoing cancer treatment, will not drive during the ceremony but will inspect troops lined up from a carriage during the Horse Guards Parade in Whitehall.
