'Rapist-murderer' turns out to be a serial killer
SURAT: A 30-year-old resident of Haryana, who allegedly raped and murdered a 19-year-old girl near Udvada town in Valsad district of Gujarat on November 14, was arrested by the Gujarat police on Sunday. Interrogation revealed that he was a serial killer wanted in at least four murders, and other undetected killings, on trains in Karnataka, Telangana, Maharashtra and West Bengal.
Police said the suspect – Rahul alias Bholu Karmvir Ishwar Jat – arrived in Vapi on November 14 and took a local train to Udvada to collect his outstanding salary from a hotel where he had previously worked. While walking to the hotel on Udvada-Pardi Road he saw the girl walking along the railway tracks. The victim returned to her home and spoke to her friend on the phone. Rahul followed her, attacked her from behind and dragged her to a nearby mango orchard where he raped and strangled her.
