Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart’s PS5 Pro Trailer Highlights “Performance and Reliability in One Package”
A new ‘PS5 Pro Enhanced’ trailer for Ratchet & Clank: Rift apart emphasizes that you don’t have to choose between reliability and performance on the upcoming mid-generation refresh console.
The traileruploaded to the official PlayStation YouTube channel, contains approximately one and a half minutes Ratchet & Clank: Rift apart images running on PS5 Pro, interspersed with commentary from employees of developer Insomniac Games.
Lead engine programmer Jahrain Jackson says, “You essentially get both performance and reliability in one package. You don’t have to worry about missing out if you choose one or the other.”
He adds that PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution) is “really exciting,” describing it as a “game changer to take our visual fidelity to the next level.” PSSR is exclusive to PS5 Pro and is Sony’s proprietary upscaling technology. It works similarly to Nvidia’s DLSS or AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution – increasing resolution and image quality with seemingly little to no impact on performance.
At just over a minute and a half long, the trailer does not go into details about what exactly is going on Ratchet & Clank: Rift apart on PS5 Pro means, apart from the mention of PSSR and the possibility of both Hi-Fi and Performance in one package.
However, it does show that the game runs in 4K resolution at a buttery smooth 60 frames per second. As such, it seems likely that PS5 Pro will be the best way to experience 2021’s action platformer.
PS5 Pro launches worldwide this Thursday, November 7. If you haven’t already placed a PS5 Pro pre-order, you can still do so thanks to available stock at PlayStation Direct and multiple other retailers. However, the upgraded console will cost you a rather eye-watering sum of $699.99 / £699.99, and it doesn’t come with a disc drive or a vertical stand – it’s worth keeping in mind if you’re considering the upgrade.
