Raygun’s best friend reveals what the failed Olympic breakdancer is REALLY like – and hits back at one of the leading theories about her zero-point routine

The best friend of Australian breakdancer Rachael ‘Raygun’ Gunn has spoken out in defence of the now-famous Olympian, hitting back at suggestions she is at the centre of a sporting conspiracy.

The 36-year-old Olympic athlete shocked the world with her infamous performance at the Paris Olympics, leaving onlookers stunned by her unconventional moves.

Sunny Spiteri, who was Rachel’s bridesmaid at her 2018 wedding, praised her performance, claiming she was “the best person I’ve ever met”, while slamming critics who “don’t understand” the creativity behind breakdancing.

“She’s my best friend!” Sunny responded to a critic.

“She’s kind and intelligent and one of the funniest people I know. All these people who don’t understand her moves have never been in a real life fight – this is what breaking is!

“It’s creative expression and she is respected in the community for her musicality and creativity! All this to say I love her and am SO PROUD.”

Sunny went on to describe her friend as “a legend” and said she will show her support by wearing Raygun shirts “until she’s 90.”

But one harsh critic said if Sunny was a real friend she should have told Rachael she was “not that good” before making a fool of herself in front of the world.

But Sunny was quick to respond by explaining that her beloved friend ‘has been beating other waves with her consistency, not just in Australia but in the entire ocean region’.

However, she admitted that Rachael has also lost competitions and criticised suggestions that there was “deception” over her selection to compete in Paris.

“The judges often don’t know her and judge her on a specific criteria. None of her victories are in dispute. Just because you don’t get it or like it doesn’t mean it was some kind of masterful deception,” she wrote.

The blonde beauty added that Rachael and her husband Samuel Free comforted her during a terrible personal incident.

“She and her husband dropped everything and drove over an hour to be with me,” she said.

The news is that Rachael will not be returning home with her fellow Olympic athletes and will instead be vacationing in Europe.

The Australian Olympians landed in Sydney on Wednesday morning after the Games, but Raygun was not on board the plane.

Instead, she will remain in Europe, possibly to spend some time with her husband Samuel Free and her parents, 2GB reported.

The athletes were reunited with family and friends at a Qantas hangar at Sydney airport on Wednesday morning.

Paris was Australia’s most successful Olympic Games, with 18 gold medals won by athletes.
