Raymond van Barneveld granted exemption to play in rival darts tournament

Darts legend Raymond van Barneveld has been given permission to participate in the World Seniors Tour.

The 58-year-old is mentioned as the last wildcard for the 2025 Champion of champions.

Barney takes 11 other legends of the sport at the tournament in Portsmouth on 29 June.

The Dutch icon currently has one PDC Tour card.

He received special permission from the PDC to appear in the event later this month.

Van Barneveld His Darts Pro career started in 1987.

He started in the BDO and won four world titles before he joined the PDC in 2006.

Barney added the PDC crown a year later and confirmed his place as a legend of the sport.

The Dutchman is still playing on the Tour, but his last major television final came to the Masters 2018.

He is going to stand up against stars, including Simon WhitlockSteve Beaton and Mervyn King in Portsmouth.

Van Barneveld said: “I’m looking forward to playing in this event.
