Redmi K60 Gaming with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC listed in IMEI database: report

Redmi K60 Gaming is said to be in the works as the next offering from the Chinese smartphone company. The details of the handset are yet to be officially announced by the Chinese smartphone maker but ahead of that, the upcoming device was recently spotted on the IMEI database with model number 23011310C. The listing suggests Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC will be powering the Redmi K60 Gaming. It is expected to go official in Xiaomi’s home market early next year.

According to a report According to Xiaomiui, Redmi K60 Gaming has appeared on the IMEI database with model number 23011310C. The report suggests the codename “Socrates” for the handset. The Redmi K60 Gaming could be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. The chipmaker is expected to launch the new chip at the Qualcomm Summit 2022 later this year.

The Redmi K60 Gaming will reportedly launch in China in Q1 2023. The device will be exclusive to the Chinese market.

Details of the Redmi K60 series had leaked online in the past. According to the leaks, the devices will feature a hole-punch display design and the display will offer 2K resolution. They are also said to offer 100W charging support. They are said to feature a 50-megapixel primary camera on the back and could feature an in-display fingerprint scanner for authentication. The Redmi K60 models will reportedly feature a Sony IMX766 sensor.

The Redmi K60 Gaming is expected to succeed the Redmi K50 Gaming Edition. The Redmi K50 Gaming Edition was launched in China in February with a starting price of CNY 3,299 (roughly Rs. 39,000) for the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage model.

The Redmi K50 Gaming Edition features a 6.67-inch full HD+ (1,080×2,400 pixels) AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC with IO Turbo, paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM. A triple camera setup on the rear with a 64-megapixel Sony IMX686 primary sensor, 20-megapixel Sony IMX596 selfie sensor, up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage, and a 4,700mAh battery are the other key specifications of the handset.
