Redmi K60 Ultra with this MediaTek Dimensity SoC could be launched on August 3
Redmi will be holding a launch event in China on August 3 along with MediaTek and Pixelworks, sub-brand Xiaomi confirmed on Wednesday. The Chinese smartphone brand is likely to unveil the Redmi K60 Ultra smartphone during the event. Ahead of an official announcement, the latest Redmi K-series smartphone has surfaced on Geekbench benchmarking site with model number 23078RKD5C. The Redmi K60 Ultra is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ SoC, paired with 16GB of RAM. The listing suggests that the handset will run Android 13 operating system on-board. The Redmi K60 Ultra is speculated to debut as a successor to the Redmi K50 Ultra.
Redmi launch is scheduled for Thursday, August 3 at 2:00 PM local time (11:30 AM IST) in China, according to a teaser poster shared (in Chinese) by the company on Weibo. MediaTek and Pixelworks have been confirmed to be part of the event. Exact details of what Redmi will unveil at the event are yet to be officially revealed, but the Redmi K60 Ultra, which is said to feature a MediaTek Dimensity SoC and Pixelworks display chip, is expected to launch at the event.
Separately, a Redmi device has been spotted on the Geekbank website with the model number 23078RKD5C. The listing, which is believed to be that of the Redmi K60 Ultra, suggests that it could run Android 13. It scores 1,724 points in single-core testing and 4,859 points in multi-core testing.
Further, the listing suggests that an octa-core chipset codenamed “corot” will be powering the phone. It shows a primary CPU core clocked at 3.35GHz, three cores clocked at 3.00GHz, and four cores maxed out at 2.00GHz. These CPU speeds seem to be paired with the MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ SoC. As per the listing, the handset could come with 15.01GB of RAM, which on paper could translate to 16GB. The listing is dated August 1.
Schematics of the Redmi K60 Ultra leaked online earlier in May. The device was said to feature thin bezels, a rectangular camera module on the back and a hole-punch cutout. It appeared on the IMEI database with model number 23078RKD5C. The device is said to feature a 1.5K resolution with a metal frame and could support 100W wired charging.
