Redmi K70, Redmi K70 Pro, Redmi K70E confirmed to launch on this date
The Redmi K70 series has been teased to launch in China as a successor to the company’s Redmi K60 series. Recently, the company has teased the launch of the series through multiple posts on Weibo. The upcoming Redmi K70 series is likely to arrive with three models that resemble the predecessor Redmi K60, Redmi K60 Pro and Redmi K60E models. Xiaomi had previously teased multiple specifications of the Redmi K70E while leaked details of the base Redmi K70 had surfaced online. Now, the company has finally confirmed the launch date of the Redmi K70 series.
Xiaomi announced on Weibo after that the Redmi K70 series will be launched in China on November 29 at 7:00 PM local time (4:30 PM IST). Xiaomi China website has also posted a promo banner ahead of the launch event. The posters shared by the company online tease a Redmi K70 model in a black colour option with a triple camera module on the back. The exact model of the teased handset or the monikers of all the phones in the series are yet to be officially confirmed.
However, the company recently confirmed the launch of the Redmi K70E and teased some of its key specifications. The phone is powered by the recently launched MediaTek Dimensity 8300-Ultra SoC and features a 1.5K display with 1,800 nits peak brightness and 1,920Hz high-frequency PWM dimming. It also comes with the new Xiaomi HyperOS and has a 5,500mAh battery with 90W fast charging support. According to the company, the handset will be 8.05mm thick.
Xiaomi China President Lu Weibing also recently took to the Chinese microblogging site to tease the launch of the Redmi K70. The company’s senior executive didn’t give any details but said that Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi is celebrating its 10th anniversary and that the Redmi K70 will be introduced to the public. In another post, Weibing had mentioned that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC could soon replace the Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 chipset as the popular choice for phone makers. The reports, which came in close succession, led to speculation that the base model Redmi K70 would be powered by the second-generation Sandragon 8 processor.
In a recent leak, a tipster shared renders of the alleged base model Redmi K70. The phone can be seen in a white color option in the leaked images. The top-left corner of the rear panel can be seen housing three camera sensors alongside an LED flash. A flat front panel with thin bezels can be seen with a center-aligned cutout for the front-facing camera. The volume rocker and the power button were seen on the left edge of the handset in the leaked images, with the latter possibly doubling as a fingerprint sensor.
