Redmi Turbo 3 to launch in April with Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC

Redmi Turbo 3 is set to launch soon in China. The company had previously confirmed that it is planning to launch a new series of smartphones but had not revealed anything further. Now, Redmi has confirmed the name and launch timeline. The processor details of the handset have also been announced. It is expected to be a successor to the Redmi Note 12 Turbo that was unveiled in March 2023. The phone is said to be launched outside of China with a different name.

The company confirmed this via a Weibo after that the Redmi Turbo 3, in the company’s new “Turbo” series of phones, will be the first to launch in China. The phone is set to be unveiled in April, with no exact date confirmed yet. It’s codenamed “Little Tornado” (translated from Chinese) and is said to pack flagship-level features into a mid-range device.

Redmi General Manager Wang Teng Thomas confirmed in another report that the Redmi Turbo 3 will be powered by Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC. The company had previously announced the launch of a new series of smartphones powered by the chipset. Earlier leaks and reports had suggested that it will be called Redmi Note 13 Turbo.

Based on these older reports, we can expect the Redmi Turbo 3 to feature a 6.78-inch 144Hz 1.5K OLED display and a 6,000mAh battery with support for 80W wired fast charging. The device could also come with Android 14-based HyperOS and is likely to launch outside of China as the Poco F6.

Notably, Redmi CEO Wang Teng Thomas also confirmed the company’s “new product matrix” based on the new 10-year plan, explaining that the Redmi K series is positioned as a “technological performance flagship, fully developing into a high-end flagship.” Right after it comes the upcoming Redmi Turbo series phones, marketed as “performance flagships” that claim to reshape the mid-range performance segment. Following these are the Redmi Note series models that will continue to make popular mid-range offerings, while the Redmi Number series will continue to offer entry-level smartphones.
