‘Redouble efforts to…’: India, China vow ‘urgent’ action to resolve LAC dispute | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: India and China have pledged to intensify their efforts to achieve full decoupling on the remaining friction points in Eastern Ladakh during a meeting between National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (WITH), Doval explained to Wang the importance of maintaining peace and tranquility in the border areas and respecting the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
The Ministry of External Affairs further said that the talks aimed to review progress made so far and create conditions that would facilitate stabilisation and rebuilding of India-China relations.
Both countries agreed to “work urgently” and “redouble their efforts” to achieve complete withdrawal from the remaining disputed areas.
“Both sides should fully abide by the relevant bilateral agreements, protocols and understandings made between the two governments in the past,” the Foreign Ministry said.
The Ministry of External Affairs stressed that the bilateral relationship between India and China has important implications not only for the two countries, but also for the broader regional and global context.
This comes after External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said in Geneva that 75% of disengagement issues along the India-China border have been resolved. Jaishankar also said that while India is open to cooperation with China in specific sectors, careful consideration is needed.
Relations between the two nuclear-armed neighbors have been tense since the deadly Galwan clashes in 2020, prompting India to tighten controls on Chinese investments and suspend major projects.
