Reliance Jio goes down: Multiple users report outage across India

Reliance Jio users on Tuesday reported complaints of a network outage, highlighting issues with both the mobile network and broadband connectivity. The reports were spotted across regions in India, highlighting a widespread problem. Many users took to social media platforms to highlight that they were getting a ‘no service’ error message on their Jio SIM. The issue was first noticed around 11:15 am. Over 10,000 users reported the problem on Downdetector India, the outage tracking platform.

Reliance Jio is experiencing an outage

About the online fault monitoring platform Downdetector, users started reporting issues with Reliance Jio’s network, with issues like lack of signal, mobile internet connectivity and more. JioFiber networks were also unavailable during the outage period. Starting at 11:15 AM, the issue peaked at around 12:20 PM when over 10,000 users reported issues with the network provider.

However, it seems that the issue was resolved by 2:00 PM as the number of reports had come down to 1,800. According to Downdetector, 60 percent of the reports were about not getting a signal on their smartphones and other devices. About 21 percent of the users reported mobile internet issues and 19 percent claimed that JioFiber services were affected due to the outage.

According to Reuters reportThe issue was caused by a fire at a Reliance Jio data center, although details about this are not available at the moment. The publication, citing an anonymous source, claims that the fire is now under control and that the servers have been restarted. This should resolve the network issue.

In a statement, a Reliance Jio spokesperson said, “This morning, some Jio customers in Mumbai faced issues while using Seamless services due to minor technical issues. These have been resolved and Jio Seamless services are fully restored. We regret the inconvenience caused to our subscribers.”
