Reolink’s New Wireless Atlas Camera Doesn’t Stop with 4K Continuous Recording
Reolink is kicking off September with a post-Labor Day release of two interesting and powerful security cameras, continuing the Atlas lineage and adding a new video doorbell. We’ve liked previous Reolink Atlas cameras, but the new Atlas PT Ultra is a particularly heavy-duty, durable model, clearly built for tough field service.
The 4K camera’s headline feature is its ability to do continuous recording, which is rare for a wire-free camera, but Reolink has packed enough battery life into the PT Ultra to last for up to a week of continuous recording. This allows the camera to capture every detail, and makes it easy to review previous footage to see what happened. It also offers full pan/tilt functionality with smart object detection and tracking for following people around, plus there’s onboard SD card support (up to 512GB) to support that continuous recording functionality. So far, it seems like a strong option for a business or a large yard with plenty of placement options thanks to its wire-free design, but we’ll let you know more once we’re done with our testing.
Reolink is also releasing a new 2K Doorbell Battery model, which embraces a growing trend in doorbells with its 180-degree, head-to-toe field of view to capture an extra amount of viewable space. That fits in well with object detection for people, packages, and vehicles. Like the Atlas PT Ultra, the doorbell has a microSD card slot for onboard storage, so you don’t have to worry about cloud storage or subscriptions. The doorbell supports both Alexa and Google Assistant.
We take a closer look at the Atlas PT Ultra and Reolink’s new doorbell to see what they’re like in practice. Both units go on sale on September 25, and we’ll have more information on pricing then.
