“I ask INDI alliance parties to explain who gave them the right to defy the Supreme Court, the Indian Constitution and Parliament. The resolution is a tactical support by Congress and its allies to terrorists and separatists,” BJP leader Smriti Irani said at a press conference. She said the passing of the resolution seeking restoration of special status was an “attempt to divide India” by the INDIA bloc parties and added that the BJP would not let them succeed in their attempt.
“I would like to assure all leaders of the INDI alliance and citizens of the country that the abrogation of Article 370 passed by Parliament will not be reinstated. And their attempt to divide India will not succeed,” she added.
Criticizing the National Conference-led coalition government over the resolution, Irani said: “The government, elected through the democratic framework, shows evidence of breaking India instead of working on development issues and uniting India.” After the abrogation of Article 370, J&K witnessed a seventy percent decline in terror incidents and deaths in such incidents fell by 80 percent, the former Union minister said.
Irani also took the resolution to Congress and asked the party leadership whether it stood for terrorism.
She also asked whether the Congress-led ‘INDI alliance’ was opposing the ‘economic and constitutional interests’ of J&K and the rights given to tribals, Dalits, OBCs, women and children with the abrogation of Article 370 .
“What they are looking for is a special status for themselves, not for the people of J&K,” she said.
