Review: I tried the new robot -like vacuum cleaner of $ 169. Here are my honest thoughts

Tumbleweeds from pet hair, dust, dirt and children’s waste are an always present function in my busy household.
With a family with a downy Golden Retriever Dog and two young boys, I always have one Robotic vacuum would be a useful cleaning device for our Light wood veneering floors.
A few years ago my husband bit the bullet and invested a few hundred dollars in a chic Robo VAC. And it was just as glorious as I had hoped.
Unfortunately, it turned out that the burning desire to use the Robo VAC as toys irresistible for my then very young children – and a too many ‘games’ of’ trying to catch ‘and step on the Robo VAC’ resulted in rise. TEAR.
With the original Robo VAC from warranty and not worth the repair costs, I have since made the old -fashioned way with a dumper and bromine
That is so far.
Although I was already a rusted fan of robot -like vacuum cleaners, the expensive initial edition of the editions had scared me to buy back.
But when I heard that KMART had come through with an Anko version of the device’s device, it was time to jump back on the robot vacuum bandwagon.
KMART’s Anko Robotic vacuum is for sale for only $ 169 – and videos that assess and outboxes have already become viral on Tiktok.

Excited shoppers have been brought to Tiktok to share their excitement about the arrival of the Anko robot vacuum of KMART Australia, which sells at the entry price of $ 169
It is therefore no surprise that the list of product product confirms that it is ‘sold out’ – and when I try to search for my local Sydney Kmart stores, it is mentioned as ‘from stock’ or ‘low shares’.
Online reviewers who have succeeded in getting it in their hands have announced it as a large number of entry level Robotic vacuum that works well on smooth surfaces such as Hard floors and light junk, and is ideal for small households.
The product also claims that it can work for 90 minutes on a complete charge and have a ‘simple BIN and filter system’.
This device is about half the price of my first robot -like vacuum cleaner – and I will admit that the drastic price difference had been approached with some skepticism.
Spoiler Alert: it met all my expectations and even surprised me with a few extra functions. But I walk for myself.
When opening the product box, my first thoughts were that it almost looked identical in the latest for my original more expensive robot vacuum. Even the button sounds sounded the same!
In addition to the device itself, you will also be supplied with a charging dock and cord, a remote control (it needs two triple A -batteries), a reserve filter and four side brushes – two as spare parts.
You will also be supplied with a mopping water tank and a few mop cushions – but more about that later.

Daily Mail Lifestyle reporter Sharon Hunt has tested the Anko Robotic vacuum on the floors of her bustling family house, and noted the easy assembly (left) and remote control functionality (right)
The simple instruction manual ordered to charge the device for eight hours before the first use. It was then just a matter of clicking on the side brushes and the Robo Vac was ready to get some dirty work.
After you have hit the on/off button on the device, there are three ways to start the robot vacuum: by pressing the ‘Start/Pause’ button on the device, using the delivered remote control or by downloading an app and then linking the robot vacuum to the WiFi.
I know that technical enthusiasts are of this kind of mobile pairing functionality, but I personally already have enough apps in my life and felt that the external and on-machine buttons were more than enough. It is unlikely that I would not operate my Robo VAC remotely if I was not at home – but I understand that for some people this is a large sales argument.
While I sent my device on his first journey, I was very impressed by the way it maneuvered its way through the house with the help of its bumper sensors and bicycles. The wheels were actually larger and firmer than my previous model, which helped from my observations to ‘not get stuck’ of unexpected ridges that it encountered.
Those in the robot vacuum already know his concern that the vacuum specifications of the Anko model were lower than most other models. It indeed has a 1200-2200 Pascals (PA) adjustable suction, while some online sources suggest that 2000-2500 PA should be the minimum.
Nevertheless, I put it to the test by offering my dirt and dog hair filled floors – and I can honestly say that it would like to eat it all. Press the video at the top of this article to view it in action.
I was happy to see that while the vacuum dirt, dust and her sucked, it was omitted to pick up larger non-Rubbish Kiddie items that rolled on the floor as pencils.

The Anko robot -like vacuum cleaner was supplied with spare side brushes and a reserve filter, as well as an external and charging dock
The sensors also helped to navigate their way smoothly around other different floor -bound items such as furniture, backpacks, sneakers and even the dog!
The robot vacuum offers different cleaning modes. I personally found the standard ‘normal’ mode sufficiently, but there is a ‘turbo’ mode that offers a higher suction mode, a ‘spot cleaning’ mode that instructs the device to constantly clean in a small area and a ‘wall after’ mode that sees the robot that follows the edge of a room. You can switch between these settings on the remote control or the app.
Because our household has large volumes of dog hair and debris, the dust bus filled faster for me than for most people. After hanging around for about 40 minutes, it was full. This also meant that it is unlikely that the 90 -minute battery life will be a problem for me.
The bottom of the device around the blow and side brushes became entangled with dog hair, which I could easily remove. (Pet -free households would probably not have this problem.) The dust bus then easily clicked out and could be tipped in the trash, although it was smaller than I would like and a bit reached with your hands to fish all the rubble.
The KMART robot-like vacuum cleaner on the market brings itself up as a 3-in-1 device, that can ‘sweep, vacuum and mop’ all at the same time. The addition of a joke function was an unexpected surprise – and I started to try that.
The water tank attachment must be filled with water and if you have it, a robot -friendly cleaning product. On top of the water tank confirmation is a removable mop cushion – they also give you a spare.
All you have to do is make the pillow light wet and then click on the entire attachment piece on the robot vacuum.
Then you can easily initiate the vacuum as you would normally do and the sweeping brushes, vacuum cleaner and dripping mop all at the same time.
Although the MOP function is a ‘nice to have’ function, my floors generally need a little more elbow fat to clean, while this device does more a light touch MOP finish.
The end of your cleaning session can be done in a few ways. If the robot has little battery, he sounds four beeps and maneuvers his way back to the Dock. (I never get tired of how smart that is!)

Daily Mail Lifestyle reporter Sharon Hunt rated the cleaning gadget, knowing that it was for a major test against the dog hair of her golden retriever Remy, as well as general household floor waste of a young family
Otherwise you can end the cleaning session by pressing the break or on / off button – or simply clicking the ‘Home’ button to send the robot to find the loading dock.
Sometimes the excited proclamations of Tiktokers can be exaggerated about the next must-have home item. But in this case I think this affordably priced cleaning device makes the hype forth.
This robot -like vacuum, like the one I have had before, is like that useful extra pair of hands for doing chores in the house.
When I am in the entire home-in-reasons mode, I can with confidence to start the robot-like vacuum cleaner with the knowledge that the floors are being cared for, while at the same time I do other chores, such as the sealing of bankbooks or cleaning the bathroom. It is like 2-out-1 cleaning.
In my household at a high -level floor debris, a robot -like vacuum will never be realistic to pick up 100 percent dirt, dust and dog hair from the floor. (To be honest, even my normal vacuum cleaner of top quality is struggling to do it too!)
But this gadget definitely gives you a huge lead on cleaning the floor, reducing the amount of time required for a final manual clearance.
However, the real test is whether this device can survive the attention of my curious and playful children. (I can assure you that rules are laid down much firmer this time to communicate acceptable ways to communicate with the robot!)
But whether this device can survive the unintended punches of a bustling young family household is still too viewed. View this space!
