Rod Stewart joked that his wife Penny Lancaster has “something going on” with Prince Charles, as the rocker laid out his wife’s crush on the royal family.

During the bizarre BBC Breakfast interview, the legendary rocker, 77, also said the Queen is like a sister to him, ahead of his performance at Saturday’s anniversary concert.

Speaking to Naga Munchetty from his luxurious home in London, he said: [Her Majesty] has been such a big part of my life she’s almost like a sister, she’s always been in the background.”

The conversation turned to his wife’s “infatuation” with the Prince of Wales, when Rod told Naga he expects Prince Charles to be one of the first royals to get up and dance at his Platinum Jubilee show on Saturday.

Rod will perform two songs during the star-studded concert alongside Diana Ross, Elton John and Queen.

“I love him, and my wife absolutely adores him,” Rod told Naga about Prince Charles.

When Naga asked why Penny “adores” him, Rod joked, “I think they’ve got something going on!”

Rod laughed shyly as Naga teased, “You know I’ll keep that in the editing!”

The presenter asked what Penny’s reaction would be, to which Rod confirmed: “She is dying of shame.”

“I wish I was dead now,” he joked, rising from his chair. “Okay, I’m going home.”

The star spoke of one of the times he met the platinum-serving monarch and claimed she was “terrified.”

‘She [Her Majesty and the late Duke of Edinburgh] thought I was going to sing Do You Think I’m Sexy, Hot Legs, really loud music, and I started, “You mustn’t forget this is a kiss, but a kiss…” they were so relieved that their ears were beaming to ear.
