JAMSHEDPUR/RANCHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said the infiltration of Rohingya Muslims and Bangladeshis into Santhal Pargana and Kolhan poses a real threat Jharkhand and accused the coalition government led by Hemant Soren of JMMThe Congress and the RJD refuse to recognise it, in the name of religion and for the sake of vote bank politics before the upcoming elections.
Last week, the Home Ministry and the UIDAI filed affidavits in the Jharkhand High Court alleging infiltration in the tribal-dominated Santhal Pargana region of Jharkhand, which borders West Bengal, and alleged that the tribal population had declined by nearly 16 percent.
The JMM-led coalition alleged that the BJP wanted to stoke tensions between the communities to gain political advantage during the elections.
Addressing the BJP’s ‘Parivartan Rally’ at Jamshedpur’s Gopal Maidan on Sunday, Modi said: “The tribal population is decreasing in Santhal Pargana. The infiltrators are taking over the Panchayati Raj institutions in the area and committing crimes against our daughters. Every Jharkhandi feels insecure because of these infiltrations,” Modi said.
He accused the JMM and Congress of standing with the Rohingyas and the Bangladeshi immigrants and refusing to accept the issue of infiltration. “JMM and Congress want to create vote banks in the name of religion. We must stop this menace immediately. People of Jharkhand must unite and support the BJP,” he added.
During his first visit to Jharkhand since the Lok Sabha elections, Modi called the JMM, Congress and the RJD enemies of the state. He called the Congress the most corrupt political party in the country and the origin of all corruption. “Now JMM is learning from the Congress school of corruption,” he said.
“While the middle class is working hard every day to earn and save money, crores are being taken away from their MPs and ministers. They have not spared any army land here. Now people are putting ‘not for sale’ signs on their lands out of fear,” Modi added.
Asserting that the days of the JMM-led government were numbered, the Prime Minister alleged that the removal of former Chief Minister Champai Soren from his post was an insult felt by every poor Jharkhandi. “Sita Soren, despite being a family member, was also insulted,” he added.
The Prime Minister, on his maiden visit to Jharkhand since the Lok Sabha elections, hit out at the Soren government over the deaths of excise aspirants. “Nearly 15 youths have died while trying to find jobs. I pay my tributes to them and condole with their families. I assure you that once the NDA government is formed here in a few months, we will investigate the deaths and bring all those responsible to justice,” he announced.
