After Roma’s triumph on Monday night, Mourinho told Sky Sports Italy that Abraham has to push himself ‘mentally’.
Mourinho said: ‘He has to do it. He has to fall deep when the team needs him. Maybe he can put in more effort mentally, but that’s also the mission.’
Mourinho did praise Abraham for scoring Monday evening against Empoli goalkeeper Vicario.
The Portuguese manager said Vicario looked world class during their Serie A clash at the Carlo Castellani stadium.

Abraham previously spoke of joining Roma as the ‘best decision’ of his life after struggling to cement a place in the Chelsea XI.

Speaking to Corriere Dello Sport, Abraham said: “The best decision of my life was to come here. No rush to return to the Premier League. I want to score one more goal than last season.’
“I hope I can improve my personal goalscoring record. Without haste, however, because I’m not yet one hundred percent ready. On the other hand, at this point in the preseason, there is no one there.”
The England star made 82 appearances for Chelsea and was briefly first-choice under Frank Lampard before Kai Havertz, Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku arrived.
