- Romeo Beckham has scored his first goal for Inter Miami with a stylish free kick
- The commentator joked after the goal: ‘I think we’ve seen this before’
- The 19-year-old recently returned to football after pursuing a tennis career
- He stood out earlier this season by getting three assists in a game
Romeo Beckham, the son of English and Manchester United legend David Beckham, has scored his first goal for Inter Miami II with a superb free kick that is remarkably reminiscent of his father’s playing days.
The 19-year-old, who played in the third tier of American football, put his shot over the wall of Orlando City B and into the bottom left corner.
The TV commentator joked after the goal: ‘I think we’ve seen this before.’
Beckham Snr posted his support on social media for his son’s performance, saying: ‘Well done mate so proud. First goal in a Miami shirt.’
Romeo responded with, “I love you Dad, that was for you.”
Spectacular free kicks seem to run in the family as they were 47-year-old Beckham’s specialty in his playing days.
He holds the record for most free kicks scored in the Premier League with 18 (although James Ward-Prowse is lurking on 14) and scored a famous last minute free kick for England against Greece to help England qualify for the 2002 World Cup.

Seeing his son score for Miami would have been extra special for Beckham Snr, who co-owns the club that founded the club in 2018.
There are even more ties to Manchester United in the Florida-based MLS side, as Beckham’s former team-mate Phil Neville leads the first team, and his son Harvey plays alongside Romeo in the reserve side.
It is the second time Romeo has made headlines this season, having had three assists in one game in April.
Beckham Jr has only recently returned to football after a five-year absence. He traded the game for tennis in 2015 after a brief stint in Arsenal’s youth line-up, but returned to football in 2021 when he moved to Miami.
After his return to football, his famous father replaced the tennis court at their childhood home with a football field.
Aside from football, Romeo has been in a relationship with 19-year-old model Mia Regan for the past three years.
