Sunbathing Bond de Sterd Saints Challenge after the break in Marvel Stadium on Sunday, so that their club record start was expanded until the season with an important 12.8 (80) to 8.13 (61) victory.

It meant that Gold Coast moved to 8-2 for the first time in their 15-year history and maintained the third place in the ladder when striving for a first final berth.

Hardwick was satisfied with the ability to win ‘ugly’, but was less impressed by Lyon’s pre-game comments.

Asked before the bouncing about the threatening tactical battle with Hardwick, Lyon told Fox Footy: ‘I’m a little worried. They are Choc full of talent, isn’t it, the Offspring Nepo baby? ‘

Lyon’s remark was supplied with a smile, but Hardwick certainly didn’t see the funny side.

“It’s a bit disrespectful,” said Hardwick.

‘Believe me, I have been to Richmond and then I came to the Gold Coast; We don’t get much.

“What St Kilda should do is ensure that they concentrate on their own backyard instead of trying to bring everyone down.”

Hardwick also shot a shot at St Kilda, which points to the low attendance figure of 13,486.

It was the smallest audience of the saints in Marvel Stadium and the lowest presence in a home game in Melbourne since 2002.

“They had 13,000 people here today,” said Hardwick.

“We will simply concentrate on Gold Coast and they have to concentrate on themselves.”

Lyon was not too worried about the low attendance figure, so that it was placed on various factors.

“I don’t think it’s my short, but Timeslot, Interstate (opponent), low membership/next, expansion club, our performance against West Coast the week before – I think it’s all going in the melting pot,” Lyon said.

Suns CEO Mark Evans did not stop Lyon’s insult.

“I thought the comments were offensive and out of order,” said Evans.

‘Offensive because the word corruption and favoritism implies, so that is really about the hard work of the club for many years.

‘We have not always had the best history with things. We have lost many players, we had to rebuild. We knew that we would reset the design. ‘

Evans then paid tribute to Lyon’s earlier work with ST Kolda, referring to their 2010 bound Grand Final with Collingwood.

‘It [Lyon’s comments] Would be as if I got up and said, “Oh, the only reason why they made the grand finale is because they were gifted Nick Riewoldt, Luke Ball and Justin Koschitzke.”

Hardwick participated in the Saints match with a horror 1-9-1 record as a coach at Marvel Stadium since his notorious explanation -when he was in charge of Richmond four years ago -that he hated to play there.

But Suns captain Noah Anderson (36 traffic, 11 approvals) and former skipper Touk Miller (30 touches, one goal) helped to ensure that the last visit had a happy ending.

Ben kicked Long three Majors against his former team, while Sam Collins chased the Gold Coast defense.

The only sour note for the Suns was a judge ankle injury for Mac Andrew, who was left with five minutes in his 50th game.

Hardwick said that the most important defender would be ‘touch and go’ for the home collision of next Saturday with Fremantle.

The connection and conversion of Gold Coast in the front half were the difference when they clearly kicked 29 points in the break.

St. Kilda fought back in the competition in the third quarter and dominated the possession for a period, but often confused himself with poor version.

They pulled early in the last term within 13 points when Cooper Sharman (three goals) reached the scoreboard.

But Suns Spearhead Ben King, who would otherwise be held well by Callum Wilkie, made two crucial goals in the last quarter to stabilize his side.

Nasaiah Wanganeen-Milera had a career-high 35 dilating and one goal, with Jack Steele (33 touches, one goal) and Jack Sinclair (29, one) also busy for ST Kolda.
