  • Leszek Kaminiski was hunting in forests in southeastern Poland before Christmas
  • There he encountered a frightened deer hiding from him in the undergrowth
  • He raised his rifle, but before he could fire, the deer fell straight at him
  • The hunter stepped aside, but the deer’s antlers painfully stuck out his eye

Shocking footage shows the moment a stampeding deer stuck out a Polish hunter’s eye with its antlers as it burst from the undergrowth.

Leszek Kaminiski was on a group hunt in the woods near Chelm, in southeastern Poland, when he encountered the terrified animal hiding in some bushes.

Suddenly the animal jumps straight at the camera from the hedge at breakneck speeds and rams the hunter in the face with his antlers.

Kaminiski is spun along with the camera and flung to the ground, as the fighter lets out an audible sob of pain before cursing in Polish.

As the deer runs away, Kaminiski remains on the ground with a badly damaged eye, and the blood splatters across the forest floor.

Photos later posted by the fighter on social media show him with blood oozing from his damaged eye and running down his face.

Another leaves his shotgun on the ground, also covered in blood.

After being discovered by fellow hunters, Kaminiski – who runs a hunting blog – was rushed to hospital where he underwent extensive surgery on both his eye and the crown of his head.

A fellow blogger from a site called wildmen.pl said: ‘Leszek tried to dodge the deer and managed to take a step to the left, which may have saved his life.

‘Fortunately, the eye muscles and nerves are intact and the bags are getting smaller. We must remember that any animal, regardless of its size, will attack when it feels threatened. As you can see, an attacking deer can pose a major threat to a hunter.”
