Russia to release all Indians serving in Russian army, facilitate their return | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Russia has decided to release all Indian nationals working for the Russian army and facilitate their return, after the prime minister Narendra Modi took up the matter with the President Putin during his important visit to Moscow.
Since the outbreak of the war between Russia and Ukraine, India has been urging Russia to ensure the safety and repatriation of its nationals serving in the Russian army. India has also taken immediate action when it received information about “Indians in the war zone”.
According to reports, about 200 Indians were recruited as security helpers in the Russian army. Four Indians were killed in the conflict.
India also demanded that there be a “verified halt to further recruitment of Indian nationals” by the Russian military and that such activities would not be in “compliance with our partnership”. By mid-June, only about 10 Indians working as support staff for the Russian military had been released and repatriated to India.
