Carpenter’s new album, Short and sweetwill be released this Friday. It will feature 12 tracks, including her singles Espresso and Please Please Please. Instagram is also getting in on the act with a few easter eggs, including giving Notes with her song titles or lyrics a Sabrina theme and introducing a new baby blue chat theme for DMs that mimics the look of her album cover.
If you’re thinking Instagram’s new profile song feature sounds familiar, you’re right: it looks like one of the many iconic features of early 2000s social network MySpace. The feature is rolling out globally to all users today. If you don’t see the clip on Carpenter’s page yet, don’t panic. New features can take time to roll out, and once you have access to the new feature, a teaser of the song will appear on Carpenter’s profile and you’ll be able to add a song to your own page.
Instagram has expanded the ways you can share music on the platform. Earlier this summer, it added a new Add Yours Music feature that lets you create and respond to songs using prompts from others, promoted as part of a campaign for Dua Lipa’s latest album, Radical Optimism.
