NEW DELHI: AICC general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra took a shot at the bull’s-eye on Monday The Government of Uttar Pradesh about Sambhal violenceaccusing the country of “spoiling the matter” with “hasty actions” and without taking both sides into confidence. She further urged the Supreme Court to take cognizance of the issue.
Tension in the area ran high after a team conducted an investigation at the Shahi Jama Masjid Stones were pelted with stones in Sambhal district on Sunday morning amid heavy police presence. At least three people were killed and about 20 were injured during the clash that broke out while the mosque was being investigated.
“The attitude of the state government towards the sudden dispute in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh is very unfortunate. “Sitting in power and trying to spread discrimination, oppression and division is neither in the interest of the people nor in the interest of the country. The Supreme Court must take cognizance of this matter and do justice. I appeal to the people of the state to maintain peace under all circumstances,” her tweet added.
