Samsung could launch a new variant of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 in October

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 6 made its global debut on July 10 during the Galaxy Unpacked event. However, if a recent report is anything to go by, this may not be the end of Samsung’s foldable smartphone reveals this year. The South Korean tech conglomerate is reportedly developing a new variant of the Galaxy Z Fold 6, which could be either a ‘Slim’ or an ‘Ultra’ variant and could bring several upgrades over the recently launched handset.

According to a source, the new version of Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 6 would be called “Q6A”. report by Allround-PC. It is speculated to feature a thinner design and larger displays. If it turns out to be an ‘Ultra’ variant, the smartphone could also reportedly offer camera upgrades. In preparation for the launch, the tech company is speculated to be testing software for a smartphone with the model number “SM-F958N”.

There’s a catch, though. As per the report, Samsung is planning to launch the new Galaxy Z Fold 6 variant in only two markets — China and South Korea. It is still being determined whether it will launch in other regions as well. Due to the limited launch, the production of the smartphone could be limited, with only 4 to 5 lakh units expected. There is no information on whether it will offer similar specs as the existing Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, the company’s flagship phone.

The report suggests that this smartphone could launch in October. If it comes to fruition, the launch could coincide with the introduction of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 series, which is also expected to release in the same month. This year, it is said to only include two models — Samsung Galaxy Tab S10+ and Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra, with the tech giant reportedly skipping the standard model.

Samsung could also unveil its first-ever Extended Reality (XR) headset during the October event. However, speculation is that it will only be available to developers at first, with a public launch likely happening in 2025.
