Samsung Galaxy Ring may soon get a ‘Lost Mode’: here’s how it works

Samsung’s Galaxy Ring is expected to launch at the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event alongside the next-generation foldable phones. The smart ring is said to feature various health and sleep monitors, and rumors surrounding its functionality have been swirling around the web. A recent report suggests that Samsung is preparing a new feature to help Galaxy Ring owners quickly find their wearables. An APK teardown of Samsung’s Find app contains strings suggesting that a new mode should be added to help locate the misplaced Galaxy Ring.

Samsung Galaxy Ring Could Offer ‘Lost Mode’ Feature

The addition of new features for the Galaxy Ring in the Find app was spotted by Android Police via an APK teardown. According to the report, strings in the code, such as “Tap start to flash the light on your ring” and “Ring light flashes,” suggest the wearable will have a “Lost Mode” and lights inside its body.

The lights built into the Galaxy Ring will reportedly blink continuously after activating Lost Mode in the Find app. This would help users locate the blinking wearable by turning off other lights in the room.

The Samsung Find app will reportedly alert users if the light is blinking or if it can’t connect to the ring to activate the blinking. It’s also expected that users will be able to lock their Samsung accounts through the app to protect the user’s ring data.

Samsung Galaxy Ring launch expected soon

The Galaxy Ring was teased in January during the Galaxy S24 series launch event. It made an appearance during MWC in February. It is expected to go official on July 10 during the next rumored event Unpacked, along with the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6. It is tipped to be priced at Rs. 35,000 in India. In the US, it is likely to cost between $300 and $350 (roughly Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 30,000).

The Galaxy Ring will be powered by Samsung’s Health platform. It has been confirmed that it will be available in three colors, possibly black, gold, and silver. It is expected to offer heart rate monitoring and SpO2 (blood oxygen) monitoring, among other features.
