Samsung Galaxy S21 FE reportedly getting Circle search with new update
The Samsung Galaxy S21 FE is reportedly the latest smartphone to feature Circle to Search – the artificial intelligence (AI)-powered visual search feature that the company introduced at its Unpacked event back in January. While it first rolled out with the Samsung Galaxy S24 series, the feature has since trickled down not only to Samsung smartphones, but also to Google’s devices. However, the Galaxy S21 FE was one of the few devices from Samsung’s S lineup that remained elusive, but that’s no longer the case.
Samsung Galaxy S21 FE Circle to search
According to a report by SamMobile, the August 2024 security update for the Samsung Galaxy S21 series not only brings fixes for 50 reported critical vulnerabilities, but also a long-awaited AI-powered feature. After the update, Circle to Search will reportedly be available on the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE.
This feature allows users to copy text from a selected area by circling it, enabling visual web lookup. Users with an S-Pen-compatible smartphone can also use it to select objects and texts on the screen. It is activated by pressing the home button or the navigation pill, allowing users to scribble, circle or draw an object and text on the screen to perform visual lookup.
While the three-phone Galaxy S21 series received the feature as part of the major Galaxy AI update, the S21 FE has remained elusive.
Other Galaxy phones with Circle to search
Circle to Search made its debut with the Samsung Galaxy S24 series. In addition to introducing it on the Galaxy S21 FE, Samsung recently announced that it will also be rolling out support to its A-series smartphones, including the Samsung Galaxy A55, Galaxy A54, Galaxy A35 and Galaxy A34, in August. However, it’s unclear whether it will arrive via a software update or if it will be a server-side switch. Additionally, the company will also be bringing the feature to two tablets: the Galaxy Tab S9 FE and Galaxy Tab S9 FE+.
