Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra key specs spotted on Geekbench
Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is expected to debut in January 2025 as part of the alleged Galaxy S25 series. We have been seeing multiple rumors lately regarding the chipset that will be powering the upcoming Galaxy S25 family. Recently, the US variant of the Galaxy S25 Ultra surfaced on the Geekbench benchmarking site with a Snapdragon chipset. Earlier, it was whispered that the South Korean brand will be packing Exynos chipsets for the entire Galaxy S25 lineup across all markets. Then, separate reports told us to expect Snapdragon SoCs for the new models across all countries.
There is a Samsung device spotted on Geekbench listing with model number SM-S938U. This listing is presumably for the Galaxy S25 Ultra, similar to its predecessor Galaxy S24 Ultra which had model number SM-S928U. The ‘U’ in the model number indicates the device is assigned to the US region.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra achieves impressive scores in multi-core tests
The Geekbench listing shows 3,069 points in single-core testing and 9,080 points in multi-core testing. As per the listing, the handset is likely to come with 10.54GB of RAM, which means it could come with 12GB of storage.
Furthermore, the listing suggests that an octa-core chipset codenamed ‘Sun’ will power the phone. This codename is linked to the unannounced Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip. It shows two Prime CPU cores clocked at a max speed of 4.19GHz and six cores clocked at a max speed of 2.90GHz.
It’s worth noting that the max frequency is lower than the alleged Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, which is said to have a peak clock speed of 4.32GHz for performance and 3.53GHz for efficiency cores. However, these numbers are likely being optimized for the final release.
The Galaxy S25 Ultra variant in question runs on Android 15. The article was uploaded to the website on September 24.
There were speculations that Samsung would be packing the Exynos 2500 chipsets with the Galaxy S25 lineup early. We later heard that the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+ and Galaxy S25 Ultra will all use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 globally. Samsung has pursued a dual-chip strategy for this year’s vanilla Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+. They pack a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC in the US, while they come equipped with Samsung’s own Exynos 2400 in most other markets, including India.
