Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra may get two new camera sensors

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is expected to be the flagship in the Galaxy S25 series when it arrives. While it is still some time before the smartphone is expected to launch, new leaks have been spilling teaser details about it. A new leak now claims that the Ultra variant could get two new sensors, improving the capabilities of its ultra-wide and telephoto cameras. Meanwhile, a previous report had claimed that the upcoming handset could retain the same 200-megapixel primary camera as its predecessor.

According to a after According to a report by tipster Sperandio4Tech on X (formerly known as Twitter), the ultra-wide and telephoto sensors of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra could be getting an upgrade. The tipster claims that the existing ultra-wide sensor on the Galaxy S24 Ultra will be replaced with a “new version of the 1/2.76-inch JN1 sensor.” This new sensor will reportedly be smaller than its predecessor. Furthermore, the poster claimed that the sensor’s resolution could be bumped up to 50-megapixels, up from the current 12-megapixels. The name of the new sensor was not revealed.

As for the second upgrade, the telephoto lens is also expected to get a new “1/3-inch Isocell sensor”, which could be slightly larger than the current one. The tipster claimed that the resolution will also be upgraded to 50-megapixels instead of the predecessor’s 10-megapixels. The optical zoom capability would remain the same at 3x. He further claimed that new algorithms were being prepared for the smartphone, but he did not share any details on what these algorithms would do.

Earlier this week, a report claimed that the Galaxy S25 Ultra could stick with a quad-camera setup on the rear, with the primary 200-megapixel sensor likely remaining the same. It’s not known whether the periscope lens that offers 5x optical zoom will get upgrades or not.

The same report also suggested that the primary camera on the back of the vanilla Samsung Galaxy S25 could be the same 50-megapixel sensor as the existing model. If true, this will be the fourth-generation smartphone to get the same resolution sensor.
