Samsung offers better smartphone repair service with this program
Samsung on Wednesday announced a new program aimed at sharing knowledge of its advanced smartphone repair skills across its service centers worldwide. As part of the program, the South Korean tech giant will send experts from the company to different countries to teach new skills when it comes to repairing devices. Last month, the tech giant sent an instructor specializing in Galaxy smartphones to India to help its employees learn the techniques. In the future, the company plans to extend this expertise to smart TVs as well.
Samsung announces new program to improve repairability of smartphones
In a press release On the Korean news site, the company announced the new initiative, saying (translated from Korean): “Samsung Electronics Service expands its world-class service capabilities overseas[..]Samsung Electronics Service has started to implement the ‘Domestic Service Experts Overseas Dispatch’ program as a regular program this year.”
The program addresses the disparity in repair service quality in South Korea compared to the rest of the world. The company says these global service capabilities will focus on repairs and customer consultations to improve the user experience.
As part of the program, the tech giant sent a “Galaxy service expert instructor” to Samsung Electronics India. The instructor visited eight major service centers in the country and shared his expertise with the teams working there.
The instructor focused on transferring the knowledge of single-piece repair to India’s mobile screen repair center (MSRC). This particular service center is the country’s largest hub for single-piece repair of smartphone screens.
Samsung highlighted the process, saying: “Display unit repair is an advanced repair method that disassembles the display unit, frame, battery, etc. and replaces only the necessary parts. High-level technical skills and specialized equipment are essential for display unit repair.” Similar progress has been made in numerous other countries.
Samsung also plans to expand the program’s focus from just smartphones to other devices. The company plans to send an instructor for home appliances and TV service to the Philippines next month to teach local employees the know-how of AI home appliances.
