Samsung to launch AI-powered washing machines in India soon

Samsung India on Wednesday announced its plans to launch several new AI washing machines in the country. The South Korean tech giant’s Indian arm will be introducing as many as 10 different AI washing machines ahead of the festive season starting in the second week of October. These appliances will be part of the company’s Bespoke AI series of home appliances. Samsung had also hinted at a front-loading AI washing machine earlier this month, which is expected to be part of the said line-up.

In a press release, the company revealed that it plans to launch the AI ​​washing machines ahead of the festive season in India, likely targeting the increased shopping frenzy among consumers during the season. While the individual specifications of the washing machines were not revealed by Samsung, it claimed that they have been made with specific configurations for the country.

The AI-powered washing machines are part of the company’s Bespoke AI series of home appliances, which falls into the premium segment. In April, the company unveiled its Bespoke series of home appliances at a physical event held simultaneously in Seoul, Paris and New York City. Notably, the company claims that the Bespoke series offers a personalized experience for users with intelligent and intuitive offerings.

While the tech giant didn’t reveal which AI features will be available in the washing machines, it did stress that a “range of AI-powered features” will create an experience that is “smarter, more efficient and more environmentally friendly.”

Another AI Wash function is described to detect the weight and softness of the fabric and monitor the degree of soiling. It can control the water, detergent, and soak, rinse and spin times.

Samsung is also using AI to optimize the electricity and water needed for a wash cycle. Keep in mind, however, that these and additional features may not be included in the company’s upcoming lineup.
